THE ARTIST BEHIND THE AIRBRUSH

Art Has Always Been Part of the Story.

From a childhood chalkboard drawing to more than three decades behind an airbrush, Viciouz Airbrush is the result of a lifetime spent creating, learning and finding new ways to turn ideas into art.

WHERE IT STARTED

A Chalkboard, A Dinosaur, and a Beginning.

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories of drawing go all the way back to kindergarten, and much of that early inspiration came from my older brother, who was an incredible artist.

One memory in particular has always stuck with me. My brother brought home a chalkboard and showed me how to draw a brontosaurus standing in water, eating shrubs along the shoreline. I copied what he drew, erased it, and drew it again — over and over until I could get it right.

Observe. Practice. Adjust. Keep working until what you see in your head becomes what you see in front of you.

I didn't know it at the time, but that simple exercise was teaching me something I've carried throughout my life as an artist.

As I got older, my brother taught me more of the techniques he was learning in his advanced high school drawing classes — perspective, light and shadow, shapes, dimension, and how to break down what I was seeing instead of simply trying to copy an outline.

Those early lessons gave me a foundation I would eventually take in my own direction.

FINDING MY STYLE

From Graffiti to Airbrush.

By my early teens, that foundation found its way into graffiti art. It became a completely different outlet for lettering, color, style and composition, and eventually helped lead me to airbrushing.

What started as another creative medium became something I've continued working with for more than 35 years.

ANOTHER CREATIVE PATH

Art Met Technology.

My brother influenced another side of my life as well. Along with being a talented artist, he was an incredible programmer. He never formally taught me to code, but I remember seeing programs he had created and being fascinated by what could be built with a computer.

Years later, that same curiosity came back in a big way.

In the early 2000s, I launched a website to promote my artwork. Building and marketing that site led me deeper into web design, programming, e-commerce and digital marketing.

What began as a way to promote my art eventually developed into another professional career, and I stepped away from airbrushing professionally for a period while focusing on e-commerce and project management.

But I never really stopped being an artist.

THE RETURN

Becoming Viciouz.

In early 2018, I returned to airbrushing professionally and created Viciouz Airbrush.

The name Viciouz has a history of its own. It comes from the DJ name I chose as a teenager and became a name I carried through the different creative parts of my life.

When it came time to create a brand for my airbrush work, using Viciouz felt natural.

It wasn't really a new name — it was bringing an old identity into a new chapter.

Either way, the philosophy isn't much different from that kid standing in front of a chalkboard, drawing the same dinosaur over and over.

Keep working until the idea becomes the artwork.
